Progress Report

In my last post regarding Financial Samurai’s Yakezie Challenge , I started the post off talking about how I was “kinda” in the challenge considering I “didn’t even have an Alexa Rank yet”.  On march 5th, three days after the original post, I saw my first ranking of 5,468,556!  What a great day that was.  Well since then I have decided to keep track of my progress.  I have been recording my Alexa rank since the 9th of March, and decided to give anyone who cares a little update as to how things have been progressing.

I must say before I post the results that this challenge has been an excellent motivator and very influential in my discovery of many great PF blogs that I would of otherwise never have noticed.  The carnivals, discussions, and amount of bloggers who I have discovered due to the Yakezie challenge have been so helpful.  I had to stop adding different blogs to my bookmark pages, and open a whole new Word document just to copy and paste all the different PF blogs I now visit due to the Yakezie challenge.  I would say that the challenge is definitely accomplishing what it was intended to, giving the little man a voice!

The following progress chart tracks only nine days, but I have been so excited about my progress, that I just had to share!

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I strongly believe in the power of progress reports.  I could easily write a whole post about them(I just might!)  Seeing where you have come from and where you are headed are two very powerful pieces of information.  In my case, I can see that between the dates of March 12th and the 16th, my Alexa rank hardly moved, it even went down slightly at one point.  Because of this, I went back and took note of what I did regarding my website on those days to learn from my mistakes.  How much did I comment on others sites?  What topics did I post? How many topics did I post, etc.  This type of analysis can really benefit you and is such an easy way to learn from your own shortcomings.

Despite the slight period of stagnation, I am very happy with how my Alexa rank has progressed.  I know what I can do to improve my site, I have two pages of topics I want to talk about, and I am continually learning more and more about how to become a more successful blogger.  I look forward to the months to come and thank everyone for coming to my site!

Keep going, don’t stop, we will get there. You have inspired me to take some time tonight and commit to the Yakezie Challenge! I have seen it a few times, but haven’t taken the time. Another thing you might want to do, if you aren’t already, is to install Google Analytics on your site so you can track exactly how many visitors you are getting each day, where they are coming from, your bounce rate, etc. Let’s “little” guys stick together so we can become players together!
